Blow Moulding
Blow moulding is a manufacturing process for forming hollow plastic parts such as bottles and other hollow containers.
An extruder melts raw plastic, then continuously extrudes the raw plastic into a tube. The heated tube is then directed into a cooled mould which is closed onto the tube, during this process the base of the tube is sealed. Air is inserted into the open end of the tube and the heated tube is then inflated to the shape of the mould. This forms a hollow part exactly to the shape of the internal form of the mould. Once the part is cooled, the mould opens, the part is ejected and the process restarts.
